Christian Drug Treatment Centers: Christian Drug Treatment Centers

Is a Christian drug treatment center the best option? This topic can be very touchy and often times carries a very large potential for argument and debate. The answer to this question, in my opinion, really depends on 2 factors.

1.) Who are you searching for treatment for?

2.) What is the religious background of the person who will be going to treatment?

Are you looking for treatment for someone besides yourself?

In a surprising number of cases, a well intentioned parent will seek out treatment for their drug or alcohol addicted child. Because of the parent’s own religious leanings, they try to send their child to a Christian drug treatment center. What many parents do not realize is that by sending their child to a religious based drug treatment center they may be hindering their child’s chances of recovery rather than helping. This has been repeatedly proven among alcoholics and drug addicts over the many years of experimentation with different treatment methods.

The Alcoholic or Drug addict feels as if their parent/s are trying to force religion down their throat. One very common characteristic of alcoholics and drug addicts is that they tend to be on the rebellious side and any mention of religion usually causes discord.

If you are searching for a drug treatment center for someone besides yourself, please be aware that if the person is not religious then it has proven harmful to send them to a Christian drug treatment center. This is the reason that almost all drug treatment centers and recovery programs are non-denominational. The basis of most of these programs is centered around the addicted person being able to believe in a higher power that makes sense to them, rather than someone else telling them that they MUST believe in a predetermined God.

What is the religious background of the person who will be going to treatment?

If the person that will be attending the drug treatment center is a Christian and has strong religious beliefs, then a Christian drug treatment center could potentially be very beneficial.

It is very important that you keep in mind what the goal of drug treatment is. The goal is to take a drug addicted person and offer them a way back to sanity and health. The purpose is NOT to reform the drug addicted person to your religious beliefs.

In conclusion, as someone whom has a vast amount of experience in this field, I wish you the absolute best in your search for a solution and please remember that everything will work out EXACTLY as it is supposed to!
