Do You Know of Any Treatment Centers Like Teen Challenge?
Question by Cassandra R: Do you know of any treatment centers like teen challenge?
My fiance is 41 years old. We live in northern texas. He is currently in jail facing a felony charge. I’ve been talking to his lawyer on finding a place for him to be court ordered to go to get help and hes asking me to give him some numbers and places. Hes addicted to drugs and alcohol. He also has liver problems that will someday take his life if he doesn’t stay sober. The only place that i know of that will help him the best is a non-profit organization called Teen Challenge. Its free and it really helps its students. Although im trying to find other places that are similar that may be a better suit for him. He also has to take medication everyday for his bipolar and schizophrenia, so im looking for a place that will allow that medical support also. Over all im looking for some place that is Free, medical facility, christian environment, and long term. Thank you so very much this would mean the world to me if i had some help.

Check with his doctor. Many communities have a free mental health clinic that a lot of times is connected with the court system. I’m surprised that his lawyer isn’t familiar with an agency that can help him.
Sometimes it’s easier to get a person with a dual diagnosis of addiction and mental illness in through the mental health agency door which can then refer for help with the addictions. Also mental health agency would have case managers that can help you find out about all the programs that are available.
For the alcoholism, get him to go to AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) or NA (Narcotics Anonymous) meetings. They generally will hold meetings in county jails and prisons too but AA and NA is about helping you help yourself–they are not doctors and do not provide any medical care and also don’t get involved with court cases. You can find them in the yellow pages.

teen challenge is a very good program i just got finisheed with it on sunday i now am a believer. but they dont let you take mind altering meds like bipolar meds and the like but if he prays about it and gives it to god he can be delivered from that. you should send him far away from home so if he gets jumpy and tries to leave he cant just walk home or somethin. i was in the delaware teen challenge center in seaford de and we had people there as far as michigan anyways good luck and god bless
